Frequently Asked Questions

  • Send me an email at angie@moxiewellness.co or book a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can get a sense of whether or not I will be a good match for the therapy services you’re looking for. This consultation is extremely low pressure. If it doesn’t feel like I’m a good fit, I am happy to offer referrals to other therapists in the area.

  • I provide therapy services for adults and minors over the age of 14 who are in Kansas at the time of session (either in my office or virtually). I will work with minors under the age of 14 as part of a family system, but I do not see them individually. I am trained to work with individuals, couples, relationships, families, friendships, and groups. The more people in the room, the more life dynamics can be explored!

  • The initial session is the time for you to share your whole story, not just the parts that brought you to therapy. You are a whole human who is so much more than the problem that brings you to my couch, so it is important that I get to know the many different parts of you. We will also make sure that there is time for you to share your goals and what you would like to see or feel different when our work is done. It is also a time for you to decide if I am a good fit for you. We are really establishing a relationship that becomes the foundation for working together.

  • For a 50 minute session, my fee is $150. Good faith estimates are provided with intake documents.

  • No, I am considered an out of network provider. A superbill can be provided upon request, but it is your responsibility to submit to insurance for any covered out of network reimbursement. I cannot guarantee their reimbursement of services. Please also note that submitting an insurance claim means I am required to give you a mental health diagnosis.

  • Sessions fees can be paid with cash, credit card, FSA/HSA. Fees are due at the time of service.

  • Appointments are typically 50 minutes. This is the standard length of a "therapy hour." If you are interested in a longer session (90 minutes) please contact me or we can discuss it at your initial session. Often, I find that couples and families prefer 90 minute sessions.

  • Cash, credit card, or FSA/HSA card accepted for payment at the time of service.

  • No matter how much I love meeting with my clients (and truly, I LOVE it. It is the deepest honor to walk alongside such incredible humans), my goal is to work myself out of the job. In the beginning, I often meet with clients weekly. As we progress through therapy, we will discuss treatment and session frequency, often decreasing session frequency over time. Along the way we may transition to bi-monthly, then to once a month, etc.

  • I do not offer a waitlist. If I am not available and do not have any upcoming discharges, I am happy to provide referrals to colleagues that I trust and respect. I do this because it is important that you get the care you need in a timely fashion.

  • Yes! I can offer virtual sessions to anyone who is in Kansas at the time of session.

  • There are many advantages to virtual sessions. It is convenient, effective, and expands the pool of potential providers. Virtual sessions (teletherapy) works best for those with mild to moderate symptoms (not people who are suicidal or in crisis), are comfortable using technology, and have a quiet, private place to have their sessions.

  • I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you will be billed for the hour.

  • Finding a therapist that fits like our favorite pair of jeans can be a process! Just remember, therapy is for YOU, so don't settle for a bad fit. Research informs us that the therapeutic alliance between therapist/client is the biggest indicator of change. If I'm not the best fit for you, I will provide referrals to help connect you with another clinician to transition over to. No hard feelings!

  • I do not conduct child custody evaluations nor do I provide custody recommendations. Due to state licensing laws, I can only provide therapy and counseling to individuals who are physically located in Kansas at the time of service.

  • You know how it can be hard to notice that your hair has grown because you see it in the mirror every day? Well, sometimes it can be difficult to notice small changes on the path of progress in therapy. That is where a good treatment plan and regular updating of the treatment plan comes in. Treatment planning sessions may feel a bit different than regular sessions, but they are slowly becoming my favorite sessions because they give us time to pause, look at where we were, notice where we are, and determine our path forward. During these sessions I frequently hear the words, "Oh wow! I hadn't even noticed, but I don't feel that way very often anymore!"
